Matthew arrived last night (after I had driven 521 kms since Saturday).

So now I am experiencing a different kind of tired. I call it Matthew tired. My day has consisted of 746 requests most starting with “Mum! … I mean Dad!”.

I took him to see Surf’s Up today. Not a bad flick.

To those who have asked … Lucy’s dive trip is going well. I spoke to her Saturday night and she is having a great time. I’m looking forward to seeing her tomorrow night.

Last night was going to be the first night in ages I was around the house when my house mates were awake. But that all changed when Lucy (bugger, secret’s out now) emailed and asked if I wanted to go for a drive to Mornington with her.

This would actually mean we drive to Mornington and I entertain myself for three hours whilst she is at a rehearsal but I jumped at the chance to see her again as we are both busy over the upcoming long weekend.

To cut a long story short as I have to go out and pick up some last minute items for her diving trip:

  • Met her at her home
  • Drove to Mornington
  • Said hello to some people I hadn’t seen in twenty years
  • Went for a drive and a pizza and a walk and more of a drive
  • Came back to the rehearsal and ran into the fianace (spelling?) of one of the guys at army who is in the show with Lucy (this world is too fricken small … frick!!!!)
  • Drove back to Lucy’s and watched her pack whilst screaming my lungs out to the Robbie Williams live at the Albert Hall DVD
  • Went to sleep

There you go.

Off to Queensland today … if I can poach some more wireless access I’ll write more later. :-)

Note: Having just reread this, let me clarify very quickly. The first line of the post is meaning November … not a person or persons. :-)

You suck.

Because of commitments with the army, the Cucumbers and other things I might as well give up on you right now.

Via email L and I are trying to figure out the next time we can actually spend some time together. She travels a lot for work and I’m off trying to please everyone who needs me to play and/or take photos. Sure I may actually have some money at the end of November but is the lack of cohesion and mental drain going to be worth it?

And in between all this is me trying to spend some time with my little boy before he grows up and realises his father isn’t all he’s built me up to be.

The lost timezone

Lucy Comments Off

You’ve heard of Greenwich Mean Time, Daylight Savings Time and Whatever time people in Queensland operate under. Sunday I discovered a lost timezone … ‘L Timezone’. It centres around a particular watch.
This is such a powerful timezone that any slight variation in timepieces around said watch can cause frowning to commence. I mentioned that I used to have various clocks around my family home set to different times to ensure we always left the house on time if not seven minutes early. It used to be referred to as the ‘fudge-factor’.

The look I got upon revealing my secret could have frozen the Sahara. It was then I was inducted into the ‘L’ timezone. Now my own watch is permanently set to L time, which causes no end of confusion when I look at other time pieces but I’m too scared to argue … a sure sign that our relationship is going very well.

Quote of the weekend:

“I love our regiment … where else in the army could you say ‘What ever floats your boat sir’ to a colonel and get a way with it?” – Me.

Frustration of the weekend:

‘Birdland’ is not an appropriate tune to open a mess dinner with.

There you have it.
