I like to think I have had a small part in some of the recent projects friends and family are undertaking on Flickr.

I’m so proud of them all.

Although probably not nearly as helpful as Mikes tips, I will impart some of the wisdom that helps me with my photography.

Mike asked recently (the email came through about 20 seconds ago) how I organise my photos seeing as I have over 10,000 of them within Lightroom. He also asked about backing up.

As he suggested, I use folders. My photos are all stored on the F: drive of my computer (F of course being the first letter of Fotos) and are contained within the Originals folder. This is automatically done on import as well as the file being renamed to RXA_YYYYMMDD_HHMMSS(-sequence within that second if more than one is taken).CR2

Within this folder is a hierarchicaldate structure. So a photo taken last night at 5.35pm would be stored like such:

F:\Original\2007\11\07\RXA_20071107_173523.CR2

I use Lightroom collections to separate my shoots into um … shoots as can be seen in the picture below. This allows me to scroll through the library to find the image I want quickly.

As for backing up … a crap load of DVD’s my friend.

Hope this tip was a good start and I can impart more later.

Facebook allows you to post a ‘status message’ that tells people what you are doing. Mine currently says that ‘Richard is wondering if it really is illegal to sell his son on eBay’.

One of my friends wrote me a message pointing me to the eBay terms and conditions.

“Humans, the human body, virtues or any human body parts are not permitted on eBay. Section 32 of the NSW Human Tissue Act expressly prohibits the trade in human tissue and this extends to skulls or skeletons even if the skulls or skeletons are to be used for medicinal or educational purposes. Items that contain human hair (such as lockets) as well as skulls and skeletons that are used for medical purposes may be listed on eBay.

eBay does not allow persons to offer or list human virtues such as their virginity or companionship on the Australian site. This extends to listings under which there is an offer for engagement in sexual activity on the receipt of payment or other financial advantage.”

Damn … what about Craigs List?

Matthew arrived last night (after I had driven 521 kms since Saturday).

So now I am experiencing a different kind of tired. I call it Matthew tired. My day has consisted of 746 requests most starting with “Mum! … I mean Dad!”.

I took him to see Surf’s Up today. Not a bad flick.

To those who have asked … Lucy’s dive trip is going well. I spoke to her Saturday night and she is having a great time. I’m looking forward to seeing her tomorrow night.

Note: Having just reread this, let me clarify very quickly. The first line of the post is meaning November … not a person or persons. :-)

You suck.

Because of commitments with the army, the Cucumbers and other things I might as well give up on you right now.

Via email L and I are trying to figure out the next time we can actually spend some time together. She travels a lot for work and I’m off trying to please everyone who needs me to play and/or take photos. Sure I may actually have some money at the end of November but is the lack of cohesion and mental drain going to be worth it?

And in between all this is me trying to spend some time with my little boy before he grows up and realises his father isn’t all he’s built me up to be.
