Seven hours straight sleep ( a miracle for me) and 45 minutes on the computer catching up on things and I feel much better.
Now to shower, grab some breakfast, organise my clothes for tonight and uniform for tomorrow and I’m out of here.
Thanks to Ben from army for lending me his GPS unit for the road trip.
I know a couple of the army crowd read this so this is for you:
My side drum is on the floor in the middle of the bandroom hallway, please bring it on Sunday as I had no more room in my car – Thanks!
Time to move.

I’m writing this at a net kiosk at Brisbane airport … in a nutshell, the parade for the departing soldiers went very well. It was bloody hot and I may be a little redder than when I left Melbourne.
Flight is not for another hour and the bar to my left is looking mighty inviting.
Hope you are all well. I’m rather knackered.
Must dash.

Last night was going to be the first night in ages I was around the house when my house mates were awake. But that all changed when Lucy (bugger, secret’s out now) emailed and asked if I wanted to go for a drive to Mornington with her.
This would actually mean we drive to Mornington and I entertain myself for three hours whilst she is at a rehearsal but I jumped at the chance to see her again as we are both busy over the upcoming long weekend.
To cut a long story short as I have to go out and pick up some last minute items for her diving trip:
- Met her at her home
- Drove to Mornington
- Said hello to some people I hadn’t seen in twenty years
- Went for a drive and a pizza and a walk and more of a drive
- Came back to the rehearsal and ran into the fianace (spelling?) of one of the guys at army who is in the show with Lucy (this world is too fricken small … frick!!!!)
- Drove back to Lucy’s and watched her pack whilst screaming my lungs out to the Robbie Williams live at the Albert Hall DVD
- Went to sleep
There you go.
Off to Queensland today … if I can poach some more wireless access I’ll write more later.

Quote of the weekend:
“I love our regiment … where else in the army could you say ‘What ever floats your boat sir’ to a colonel and get a way with it?” – Me.
Frustration of the weekend:
‘Birdland’ is not an appropriate tune to open a mess dinner with.
There you have it.

After having spent the afternoon with the newly returned Miss L (and Jake … who is still so very cool), I hopped on a train to Melbourne to meet up with Scott (Scootie on flickr) for our annual get together.
Scott was my best man at my wedding back in 1999. We have seen each other about once per year (if that) since. Scott is responsible for getting me hooked on flickr many many many moons ago and is an awesome photographer.
We met near the Aquarium and did a bit of a southeast corner of the CBD mixed with a dash of South Docklands urban jaunt with a mandatory Krispy Kremes stop over for cold caffeine and glazed sugar refreshment.
On looking through the photos I am reminded that this urban shooting is not my ‘thing’ but as always I am ready and willing to give it a go. I find it difficult to see the shots that others such as Scott and Mike have no trouble with. It’s funny that my favorite shots all involve people somehow. I guess that’s what i do.
A heads up that my blog posting may be slightly spasmodic until Sunday as I have a million (ok maybe not a million, but at least 23) things I need to do before Sunday. Army (finding three separate uniforms), gigs with the Cucumbers, dinner with friends (not a have to, a want to), and I have to try and fit Matthew and Miss L into the weekend as well!
